33 Family Day Care (FDC) services operate in WA and these services have as many as 50 or more Educators each caring for children across WA. Educators may be based anywhere in WA and kilometres from their service office but WA Inclusion Agency can ensure support and face to face visits can be provided to an Educator wherever they are based.
FDC Educators are in the unique position of educating and caring for children by themselves, supported by their Education Support Officers, but Inclusion Professionals can provide extra support to FDC Educators with their inclusion needs and are happy to have discussions with both FDC Service Providers and Educators about how to request support and the benefits from using the Inclusion Support Program.
Developing a Strategic Inclusion Plan can be a first step to working out needs and then taking actions to make sure every child has opportunity to participate fully and be included in FDC programs.
Already over a third of FDC services in WA have taken up the opportunity to develop a Strategic Inclusion Plan and utilise Inclusion Support Program resources to support children’s inclusion. WA Inclusion Agency aim is to support every FDC service in WA to develop a SIP by 2021.
If you are a FDC Educator or service please call us on 1800 11 9247 or email
