Childcare services in Geraldton and the Mid-West recently engaged in consultation visits from the Autism Association team and took part in a two-day group training session as part of the Innovative Solutions Autism Champions project.

The project funded under the Inclusion Support Program, aims to increase Educators’ understanding of Autism and helps build the capacity and confidence to better include children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or behaviours consistent with ASD.

The West Australian Inclusion Agency (WAIA) Program Manager Debbie Brown and Autism Association Project Lead Leanne Crawford visited Goodstart Early Learning Centre (ELC) Wonthella to meet with their Director for a consultation meeting.

Leanne advised of practical strategies tailored to the services’ individual needs.

Several Goodstart Educators also attended the two-day training session along with nearly 20 Educators from several other centres to get an in-depth understanding of Autism and applying inclusive strategies
